Grubhub saved a woman’s life. The woman was being held hostage in New York. She was allowed to order food from a restaurant using Grubhub. In the “Special Instructions” box, she wrote, “Please call the police.” There was some other wording but it didn’t quite make sense. Because it didn’t make sense, they almost didn’t do anything thinking it was a prank. Luckily, the owner of the restaurant told everyone to cancel the order and call the police who saved her. He kidnapper was charged with rape, strangulation, and about 6 other things.
My wife carries mace and a knife with her every time she goes for a run or bike ride. Even I carry a knife. I’ve shown her some self-defense moves and a couple of ways to use a knife. I still worry. A lot of times when we’re on vacation in places we’ve never been she likes to go for a run. Our last time in Jamaica, while I was taking scuba lessons, she took off down the road off the resort without telling me she was going to. If she would have been abducted, I wouldn’t have had any idea what happened.
