I’ve never owned a Barbie Doll, but if I were to ever get one, it’d be the new Jane Goodall version. Mostly because it comes with its own monkey who looks like he’s holding a light saber. Also, the doll itself is apparently eco –friendly like Jane. Mattel says that it’s certified carbon neutral and most of its plastic parts were made from recycled plastic. The timing coincides with the 62nd anniversary of Jane heading out to study chimpanzees. Also, July 14 is World Chimpanzee Day.
The Jane Goodall Barbie is part of the Inspiring Women Series of dolls which also includes Maya Angelou and other famous women. By the way, the monkey that comes with Jane’s doll is a replica of the first chimp she saw using sticks as tools. His name is David Greybeard.
