Airline wont refund or credit after THEY cancelled our flight and ruined our vacation.

Last month, Jenny and I were supposed to fly to Rhode Island to see family. The airline cancelled our flight. The option they gave us was for a flight that would have got us there at  a later date and would have made us miss everything we were going to do and we would have seen family for less than a day. It was pointless, so we said no. After asking constantly about a refund or credits, they finally got back to us. They said no refund and no credit because they offered us an alternative. Yes, after THEY cancelled what we wanted and, again, the alternative did not work. If we do nothing, we lose almost a thousand dollars. I’m not inclined to do nothing.

Otherwise, I’m going to send a formal letter of complaint to the Department Of Transportation and a copy to the airline. I’m thinking about letting the airline know that I’m thinking about dropping my story with several friends I have in news departments. I’m also going to get all over the airline’s  and my social media and web site and talk about my situation with the airline. I’m not trying to be a jerk, but this whole thing seems grossly unfair to consumers where the airline is clearly at fault; not for just monetary damages, but also for ruining an aspect of our lives. And they’re getting away with it large scale across the nation tens of thousands of times over the last few months.
