A British auction house recently sold an antique vampire slaying kit. It looks sort of like one of those boxed shaving/ bad cologne kits that only come out around Christmas, except for the holy crosses and what looks like a meat tenderizer with a cross painted on it.
It’s from the 1800s and apparently someone believed in vampires enough that they had special box made to hold their matching pair of pistols, brass powder flask, holy water, Gothic bible, wooden mallet and stake, brass candlesticks, rosary, and Metropolitan police paper work. Police paper work? Yeah, this Vampire Slaying Kit belonging to a well to do, upper crust member of the House Of Lords. The kit ended up selling for over $15,000 to an anonymous bidder who said he was excited to get it for its historical value. I’m sure it’ll also be a huge magnet for the ladies. I can see it now, “Hey, wanna go back to my place to check out my 19th century Vampire Slaying Kit?”
