A person who flew into Australia recently was fined more than $2,000 because he or she didn’t declare that he or she had three McMuffins in his or her luggage. I keep saying he or she because the passenger hasn’t been identified.
Australia doesn’t hate McDonald’s. They just passed new rules about biosecurity after hoof and mouth disease has been spreading across Indonesia and Bali. This passenger had flown in from Indonesia. After a security dog sniffed out the breakfast sandwiches, the passenger was charged with failing to declare potential high biosecurity risk items and providing a false and misleading document.
I mean, I know McDonald’s isn’t the healthiest food, but “high biosecurity risk”? I thought they only put that on cans of Spam.
Also, who puts Egg McMuffins in their luggage?
Australia doesn’t have hoof and mouth disease and the really, really don’t want it. Of course, cooking meat destroys the virus, so…………ahem. That aside, they said they’ll be testing the sandwiches before destroying them.
