Holy smokes! The cast of “The Big Bang Theory”, where they talked a lot about things like uranium, were close to getting killed by actual uranium once. Apparently a famous physicist stopped by the set one day to say ho to everyone. He noticed that one of the props on Sheldon’s wall was an actual old time Geiger counter. Then he mentioned that scientists used to put real uranium inside of them in order to calibrate the Geiger counter. And because he’s a world famous physicist, he just happened to have a modern Geiger counter in his car’s trunk. He brought in on set and it indicated uranium inside the prop. He told them that he was going to put it in a lead box and take it away. And that’s what he did. Fortunately, it wasn’t on set long enough to affect anyone….. that they know of. I guess we’ll wait to see whose hair starts falling out first.
