I fell asleep in the dentist chair today. I didn’t sleep well last night. So, when they recline that chair back and I had nothing to look at, I closed my eyes and went into that immediate dream mode that happens when you’re exhausted. And, I fell asleep while the dentist was using that very sharp, hook looking thing to scrape my teeth. There was light music in the background and she was humming. It was the perfect storm for drifting off. I mean, except for the whole sharp object in my wide open mouth part. I was only out for about 15 seconds. It was just long enough to have one of those “Inception” style dream moments.
That’s not even the weirdest place I’ve fallen asleep. I worked construction one summer. After a couple of harsh 12 hour days, I zonked out on some concrete, underneath major bridge on Interstate 80. I was a bridge we’d just built. There was constant traffic 8 feet above my head. It was 99 degrees out. My body didn’t care.
