A flight had to be turned around and landed because of the stink coming from a passenger’s bag. Last Wednesday night, a flight that had left Miami for Barbados, then had to go back because a carry-on bag had a weird chemical smell coming from it that was strong enough to make some passengers feel ill and fill the cabin. They sent in emergency crews in hazmat suits. They sent 5 crew members to the hospital just to be cautious. One guy said it smelled like nail polish remover.
Passengers were all given hotel rooms and flown out the next day. What’s kind of strange about this story is that I can’t find any follow up news explaining what caused the smell, who the guy was, what happened to him. Although, while I was trying to dig a little deeper into this, I found a story from 3 years ago about a family that was booted off a flight because so many other passengers complained about their body odor.
Still, I I’m probably going to obsess about what was in the bag. What smells like nail polish remover and is strong enough to fill an entire plane from within a bag.
