I’ve never been a fan of fruitcake. Maybe when I’m in my 80’s that’ll change? In the meantime, Mountain Dew is launching a new flavor this holiday season . . . fruitcake. Well, actually they’re calling it “Fruit Quake”.
Before I knock it, this may taste good?? I say this because over the weekend I tried the Flamin’ Hot-flavored Mountain Dew . . . and to my surprise it was really good. If only you could have seen my reaction. Cheetos-inspired Mountain Dew? Good? Yup. Especially if you added some adult flavoring to it.
I’m going to keep an open mind to this new concept, fruitcake. Have you seen it in stores yet? Some folks have already gotten their hands on it. It should be nationwide come November.
If you haven’t been keeping track like myself, this is the fourth holiday flavor they’ve done in the past few years. The first was in 2017 called “Holiday Brew”. It was regular Mountain Dew mixed with Mountain Dew Code Red, because obviously green plus red equals Christmas. After that, the MD peeps released a cranberry-pomegranate soda called “Merry Mash-Up”. Last year’s flavor was called “Gingerbread Snap’d”.
For those who have tried the new fruitcake flavor, what are their thoughts? It’s been mixed reviews so far. One Mountain Dew super fan said that it tastes like the inside of an arts-and-crafts store.
