Air pollution is one of the reasons middle aged women gain weight. That’s what the findings of a new study support. The study, which is published in the journal of the American Diabetes Association, shows a connection between the more a woman is exposed to pollution, the greater her chances of obesity. It was 4.5% more body fat to be exact.
How could pollution possibly do this, right? Things like ozone and other chemicals increase inflammation of fat tissue as well as playing into other factors that are strongly linked to obesity. It affects metabolism and how the body stores cholesterol. The fix is one that helps with a lot of things, exercise. Doing regular exercise will increase the metabolism and increase fat loss as well as all the other benefits than can help offset the pollution as well as helping with other health issues.
