You’re going to have to pay Twitter to prove you’re real. It’s reported that Elon Musk want a policy implemented soon that charges $20 a month to have the blue checkmark next to your account’s name. As far as I know, it won’t cost for a regular old account. And a lot of us aren’t big enough, with gazillions of follows, to need a blue checkmark. And I’ve already seen celebrities complaining about having to pay $20 a month. Celebrities that are worth millions to hundreds of millions are complaining about a $20 a month fee.
Just FYI, the blue checkmarks proves that your account is authentic as opposed to someone else using your name, service, or product and adding a slight variation to it while pretending to be the real thing. For example, Faux Pelini, who is just a lawyer making comical remarks about sports. If anyone were looking for the Bo Pelini Twitter page, they’d know that Faux Pelini isn’t it because there isn’t a Blue Checkmark. Or something like that. On Sunday, Elon tweeted that the whole verification system is being overhauled.
HOW ABOUT A LITTLE NEBRNOIS IN YOUR FACE

I’m okay with this. Again, it only affects a small portion of people on Twitter. And honestly, most people I know didn’t even know that there is a blue check mark or what it’s for, so it’s kind of a moot point.
