Thanksgiving wore me out. We hosted this year and family stayed with us a couple of days. We host every couple of years and the house gets a mostly thorough cleaning in the weeks leading up to hosting. We start about a month out, cleaning specific areas each weekend. Then it’s the final rush of cleaning the last week and couple days before Thanksgiving. That’s pretty much the part that wears me out. Then, the day after, we can go back to being our usually somewhat messy selves with the mail and unfinished paperwork all over the counter for weeks and shoes left wherever for another couple of years.
I found a video with holiday house cleaning tips. She is waaaaaay more thorough than we were. I can’t remember the last time one of us climbed into the oven and cleaned the inside. She even cleans the Tupperware drawer. It would take 2 hours just to collect all the lids in our drawer. She talks about how people get nosy and look inside of things like that. First, they better not. Second, I actually don’t care if they do. “Oh no. They found out we re-use a lot of sour cream and Cool Whip containers for leftovers. Surely we’ll be shamed out of town!” I’m the guy that posted pictures of the insides of our drawers on the B107.3 website and talked about how cluttered they are.
