A two year old boy was playing outside in his small village in Uganda. It’s a village close to a lake where hippos hang out. Apparently the boy looked tasty because one of the hippos scooped him up and swallowed him whole. Amazingly, another man saw it happen and started throwing rocks at the beast. Somehow it startled the hippo into spitting the boy back up in one piece.
Fun fact. Hippos bite strength can easily chop a grown man in half. It’d be similar to you eating a Snicker’s bar.
Yet, the child was unscathed. The hippo ran back to the lake and the kid was taken to the hospital, given rabies shots, and released.
Hippos kill about 500 people every year in Africa, but they mostly eat grass and fruits. So it’s weird that one would try to eat a little boy.
Baby hippos, by the way, are adorable!
