I destroyed 3 miles of Lincoln with an asteroid. I used the website Asteroid Launcher. It has a view like Google Map that lets you can zoom in right down to the streets. I’m looking at the south parking lot of Gateway Mall right now. One you’ve picked out an area, you choose the asteroid size. Also pick a speed, up to 250,000 miles an hour, and and angle of impact. Then launch your planet killer.
I didn’t pick the mall for any other reason than people recognize it. I have no desire for it to be actually hit by an asteroid. I put in 600 feet diameter, 7k miles per hour, and at an impact angle of 13 degrees. Press “launch” and kablooey!
The site gives you details like how big the fireball would be, how many miles away house would be destroyed, the magnitude of the earthquake it creates is, and more. I did one simulation where trees caught fire over 100 miles away. You can try hundreds of different combinations and send them anywhere on Earth. It’s kind of addictive. CLICK HERE to open the site.
