Don’t leave your car running and unlocked without you in it and never leave the keys in the car and walk away. Last night a guy filled up his car at a Lincoln gas station. Then he went inside to pay, but left his keys in the car. I’m not trying to chastise him for this. I’m just pointing out another example of what can happen. Someone else jumped in and took off with his car.

Now, here’s where I’m going to chastise a little, because you should never, ever, ever do what he did next. The owner caught up to the car on foot, grabbed on through the slightly open window, and kept holding on as the car sped up to 30 miles per hour. You don’t know what the thief is willing to do after stealing your car. I’ve read stories of people getting dragged and nearly skinned alive at high speeds. What if the person has a gun? Or, they might decide to ram you into something. As it turned out, the woman trying to steal the car did wreck it into another vehicle. Luckily the owner let go first. She ran off and got away.

She could have been a T-3000 trying to get to John Conner and just grabbing the first vehicle she saw. You never know!

Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if the insurance company for the other vehicle she hit claims he’s to blame since he was distracting the woman from driving safely. I think I read that he tried to grab the steering wheel at one point.  So, instead of just collecting insurance for a stolen car, he might end up paying about 10 grand in repairs for both cars.
