Company will create new, living Wooly Mammoths within next few years.

Wooly Mammoths are coming back. Get ready for chaos theory to erupt and nature to find a way. A biotech company called Colossal has been working on sequencing the genes of wooly mammoths. When they’re done, which will be soon, they plan on mixing those genetics with the Asian Elephant. It’s not going to be a real drastic. The Asian Elephant shares 99.6% of the same genetics.

That’s the exact same amount that we share with chimpanzees. So, it’ll be just like making a human/ chimp hybrid. And everyone’s cool if we mixed those two, right?

Anyway, they plan on bringing back Wooly Mammoths in 2027. Then the plan it to populate artic areas and Siberia is Russia lets them. The scientists at Colossal think the Mammoths will have a beneficial impact on the Earth’s ecosystem.

You know what’d be awesome?!? There’s that statue of a mammoth in front of Morrill Hall named Archie. It’s a tradition to rub that statue before Husker football games. What if we could get a real Wooly Mammoth before one of the games and let people pet it for luck? We could keep it as a mascot and let it live in the stadium. There could be fundraisers where people could take it for a walk around town for donations. We’d bring in millions in tourism dollars! You’re welcome Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau.
