Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman says drivers need to use extreme caution if they are going to be out on county roads on Thursday. “It’s a little rough this morning. We got a lot of snow and blowing snow,” Dingman tells KLIN News.
“We pulled everybody in because it’s so dangerous. If you can’t see whether or not you’re on the road, you shouldn’t be on the road.” Dingman asks that you stay back at least 100 feet from crews treating and plowing roads.
She also encourages you to pack an emergency kit for your vehicle, including a shovel, sand, water, a flashlight, a blanket, hand warmers and snacks in case you get stranded.
“We’ve had a really great winter and this was our turn. We’re going to get this snow cleaned up as fast as we can, but right now conditions are super dangerous out there and we encourage people to stay off the roads if at all possible.”
She tells KLIN News snow fall totals appear to be higher in southern part of the county. Some KLIN listeners have reported snow fall totals between 6-8 inches in various parts of town.
