Last year, there was talk about Elon Musk wanting to put implants into people’s heads so they could interact with computers using their brains. However, it was a large chip that had to be surgically implanted. People weren’t real hip to the idea.
But, what if the implant was super thin and way less intrusive? Precision Neuroscience has develop a device that’s not much bigger than the tip of a thumb and thinner than a hair. It also has thousands of electrodes that pick up brain electrical activity. It uses those to let people communicate with a computer using thoughts. It does need to sit directly on your brain to work. That sounds a little scary to me, but they say it doesn’t harm the brain tissue. They put in just by making a very slight incision and then sliding it into place. They hope to help paralyzed people.
