Great, artificial intelligence wants to steal all the DJ jobs now. Spotify has a new feature that gives you a personal DJ while listening to your music. He, I mean it, helps pick your playlist and learns to anticipate what you’ll want to hear. Then it pretty much acts like a hype man for the music you’re listening to.
I think it has a limited set of things it says, like on a video game. Spotify was asked whether it learns new stuff to say to each individual or if it repeats preset catch phrases. They didn’t really give much of an answer. They did say that the commentary for each artist is similar. Right now, it’s just for Spotify premium members. Which I’m not. I couldn’t find out if you have a choice to change the voice and delivery style, but I assume you can. It looks like a fun gimmick right now, but I have a feeling people are going to get bored with it fairly fast.
