United Way Begins 100th Anniversary Community Spirit Week

By Chase Porter Apr 24, 2023 | 12:53 PM

United Way of Lincoln & Lancaster County is celebrating 100 years of community service in 2023.

In celebration, the Lincoln/Lancaster County chapter is holding Community Spirit Week this week, April 24-28. Each day will have a unique theme to promote awareness of certain topics and issues in our community.

Monday, April 24 – LET THE SUN SHINE DAY
We are encouraged, if possible, to turn off lights or unplug appliances for an hour, to reflect on what it is like for those who struggle to pay utility bills. The United Way’s Impact Fund assists community members with keeping up with utility bills and other needs.

Tuesday, April 25 – ONE OF A KIND DAY
Simply, perform an act of kindness. One of the foundations of a strong and caring community is kindness. We all want to be on the receiving end of an act of kindness, and what goes around comes around.

Wednesday, April 26 – ON THE SAME PAGE DAY
United Way is holding a Virtual Book Drive with the goal of raising $2500. This will provide 100 books into the hands of students here in Lincoln and Lancaster County.

Thursday, April 27 – PEP RALLY DAY
United Way will be holding an Annual Meeting to kick off 100 years of community service. RSVP to Lauren at ldaake@unitedwaylincoln.org or 402-441-0096.

Friday, April 28 – LIVE UNITED DAY
People are encouraged to proudly wear your Live United gear to rep your involvement in creating a stronger Lincoln and Lancaster County. You can contact your workplace United Way rep or call 402-441-0096 for some United Way stickers!

United Way is also encouraging people to share photos of you and/or your team participating with #UWSpiritWeek.
