Photographer turns scary ferry ride into a celebration. Inspiring story in blog.

This is making the best of a bad situation. There was a ferry making a trip between Bremerton and Seattle when it lost power right after launching. It ran aground. It didn’t get to its destination. Nor could it unload the passengers and their cars. Also, they had to wait until the next high tide for a tug boat to rescue them.

Instead of rioting and yelling at crew, a professional photographer, Britt Jezak, on board pulled her equipment out of her car and started taking special shots of other people on board. In fact, there were a bunch of Navy officers and their dates, dressed up and on board who had been on their way to a Submarine Ball in Seattle. Britt gave them formal pictures. And she went around to other passengers and took free shots of them too. It eased the tension and stress of everyone on board. After, Britt said, “I’ve always thought the point of life is to help others find their zest for life, and how grateful we are to be here,” she says. “It’s all about connection. When you can achieve that, nothing can be that scary.”
