A man proposed to his girlfriend right after she accepted her degree at her college graduation. Is he romantic or a thoughtless moment stealer? There’s a video of this making the rounds on Twitter. The woman appears to be smiling and says “yes”, but there are a lot of people commenting that the guy is a jerk for doing it. Many are using words like selfish and self-centered. I think if they’re both happy, it’s great.
I have a cousin who got married. Her brother proposed to his now wife at her reception. I know a lot of people who would call that self-centered. Here’s the thing. The cousin who got married helped him plan and pull it off. They hid the engagement ring in a piece of the wedding cake that the proposed to found and then he did it right there in front of everyone. Everyone cheered. Everyone was happy. Everyone went back to celebrating the wedding. It was seen a bigger happy day for the entire family and not like somebody stealing the spotlight.
