Boy’s mystery illness solved by ChatGPT after wrong calls from 17 doctors.

Is artificial intelligence smarter than doctors now? Case in point. A 4 year old boy named Alex started experiencing pain a few years ago. Not much later the pain increased and he started chewing on things. Then, his growing was stunted and his leg foot was dragging. Alex’s mom spent 3 years going to dentists, 17 doctors, and emergency rooms. Some thought Covid was the issue, but no real diagnosis was found, from humans. His mother took all the information she had, the symptoms, MRI notes, and everything else and plugged it into ChatGPT. It led her to looking into what’s known as tethered cord syndrome. That’s when there’s a problem with the spinal cord that makes it stretch abnormally. Alex’s mom took him to a Neurologist who looked at the MRI pictures and agreed with the diagnosis. Alex got surgery to fix it and is recovering.

That sounds amazing, but I haven’t been impressed by ChatGPT. I’ve only used it a few times to help me find information about musicians and a few other things. But it hasn’t been anything that I couldn’t find with a Google search. Also, I still don’t trust it to be more than 70% correct with information. There’s just too much garbage on the internet.
