We had to cancel our Thanksgiving plans. On Wednesday, our pet guinea pig got sick. Before that, the plan was to visit family in Kansas for a day and have friends stop by a couple of times a day to make sure he had enough food. In order to get him well, he needed to be force feed a specific kind of food every 2 hours and also needed a specific probiotic to make sure his digestive tract worked right. Since it’s Jenny’s family that lives in Kansas, I volunteered to stay behind and take care of him. Then I stayed up all night watching over him, waking Jenny up every couple hours to help with the feeding. He hates being force fed and is very squirmy.
Thanksgiving morning, Jenny decided to stay with in Lincoln with me and Cornelius, our guinea pig. She went to the grocery store and bought a pre-cooked turkey and a couple other things. Then we had a mighty fine Thanksgiving meal. In fact, it was one of the tastiest turkeys I’ve ever had. And Cornelius started showing signs of getting better towards the end of the day. Even though we missed the big get together, I’m thankful that I got to spend time with my family; me, Jenny, and Cornelius.
