The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle with Idaho plates on I-80 near the Lincoln Airport Wednesday morning for following too close. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the vehicle also had a broken windshield.
He says 33-year-old Geovany Mercado gave consent to search the vehicle and deputies found 27 pounds of meth in the gas tank. “The meth was wrapped up air tight and floating in the gas,” Houchin says.
He says Mercado was on his way to Omaha with the drugs and was arrested on charges of intent to deliver methamphetamine.
