I craft something for everyone as Christmas gifts every year: at work, extended family, friends……….. it’s got to be something that I can make a lot of, at least 75. This year, it’s homemade soap. I wanted to share it with you because it can also be a great last minute gift that you put your own special touch on. Also, homemade soap isn’t not overly expensive and you can make it in less than 2 hours.
You’ll need a soap base. They come in blocks made of glycerin, donkey milk, with aloe already in it, with honey in it, and a bunch of other combinations. It’s as easy as melting it down and molding it. Or, you can also buy coloring, various scents, and additives like oatmeal to make each bar more unique. I bought a couple of boxes filled with various male and female oriented smells. I also bought several different colorings. I also got 6 or 7 different molds to pour them into. Some are bars. Some are shaped like monkey faces. Then I made several different batches, wrapped them up, and then put a luffa in a gift bag for everyone.
You can buy all of this stuff at your local craft store like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. When you have more time, you can also find it all on Amazon. They have a bigger choice of molds. There are also several molds that can be used to make soap AND candles. I bought a couple that were shaped like fist sized human skulls. There are a couple people who will appreciate the leather scented bars of soap I made with those.
