Our furnace’s circuit board quit working last Friday. The company that fixed it talked about its age and showed us replacement options. All of which sounded good to Jenny and I. I mean, except the price which would be in the $10,000 range, but tax cut this, incentive that, rebate over here; that all sounded really good. We were about to do it, buuuuuuut….. decided to get a quote from another company.
The other company visited yesterday, took a look, and completely talked me out of thinking I need a replacement. He said he’d take our money if we want, but he doesn’t make commission. Then he explained the furnace to me. After an hour, I was able to name every part of a furnace, what they do, life expectancy, and how much it will cost to replace them. Guess what? My furnace is rated to last at least another 15 years. At the end, he asked what I was thinking. I said, “You’ve talked me out of doing this. I’m sorry.” He said he’d send me a quote anyway and wasn’t upset at all.
Guess who’s going to get my business in the future?
