Pop Tarts is asking Taylor Swift to make her homemade Pop Tart recipe available to the public. This is in response to Andy Reid mentioning that Taylor made them for the offensive line of the Kansas City Chiefs. They took out a full page ad in the KC Star last Friday and they’ve posted a picture of a Pop Tart in Instagram with the wording “Release The Recipe”. They say if Taylor’s version of the pastries is released, they’ll double their donation to an organization that works with food banks.

While we’re waiting for Taylor’s Pop Tart recipe, feel free to use mine. You’ll need:
—- 2 Refrigerated Pre-made Pie Crusts
—- 1/2 c. Fruit Jam (Strawberry is my fave)
—- 1 Tablespoon of the Jam For Icing
—- 1 tbsp. Cornstarch
—- 1 Egg 1
—– A cup of Powdered Sugar
—– And 2 tbsp. of Heavy Cream
Set the oven to 400. In a small bowl, mix ½ cup jam with cornstarch. In 2nd bowl, whisk the egg.
Flour a large work surface and lay both pie crusts on it. Roll the circles to 11 inches across. Use a knife or pizza cutter to cut the edges off, about 1 inch off all sides, to create two 9-inch squares. Then cut each square into three 3-inch stripes, or 6 total. Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of jam on one end of each strip. Brush a rectangle of egg around the jam, to glue the sides together. Fold the dry end over the end with jam. Use a fork to crimp the edges together on all sides. Repeat with remaining pie crust strips.
Put the tarts on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper. Then bake for 16 to 20 minutes. Look for them to become golden brown and firm.
After the pop tarts have cooled for several minutes, whisk powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon jam, and 2 tablespoons cream together to create an icing glaze. Spoon over the top of each pop tart.
