Homemade Shamrock Shake recipe that kids will love.

Jenny experimented with a new recipe last night. She was trying to make special green colored St. Patty cookies that have pistachio pudding in them. Something went wrong. The top of every cookie is wonderful with just the right amount of soft and flavor. The bottom of each cookie though……….. they weren’t burnt, but it was like some weird, quantum effect, black hole thing happened. The bottoms are super dense compared to the rest of the cookie. It was like chewing through a hard crouton. We’re not sure what happened.

That said, I have a fun family recipe for St. Patty’s Day. It’s a copycat Shamrock Shake. You only need:

— 4 scoops of vanilla ice cream.

— ½ cup of milk – Any milk will do. Use a little heavy cream to thicken if you’d like.

— ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract.

— 4 to 6 drops of green food coloring.

— Top with whipped cream as an extra option.

Basically, put everything in a blender, except the whipped cream, and blend until smooth. Pour and top with that whipped cream.

To make an adult version, add an extra scoop or two of ice cream and add ½ cup of Crème de Menthe.
