Fasting linked to HUGE increase in risk of dying from cardio disease.

By Austin Michael Mar 19, 2024 | 7:55 PM

A lot of people think that intermittent fasting is a great way to lose weight. Science is now saying that it might be really bad for you. The American Heart Association posted a new study yesterday that showed that people who only eat within an 8 hour window, and not eating the other 16 hours of the day, saw a 91% higher risk of dying from cardiovascular disease.

I have a cousin who took it to the extreme. He wanted to get into intermittent fasting to lose weight. Someone told him he needed to learn how to go 3 days at time on just water to make it really work. I don’t need to tell you how this went do I? Not well. We’ll just say not well.

Advocates will tell you that there are studies that link to lower blood sugar and better blood pressure from the fasting. Almost all of those studies were done on animals. When you starve a human body, the metabolism slows down. And when you do eat, it will store ore in fat in the anticipation that you’re going to keep starving. Also, within 24 hours of fasting, the body will start to break down muscle for protein.
