‘No Labels’ Gains Official Political Party Recognition in Nebraska

By Chase Porter Apr 16, 2024 | 4:45 PM

Organizers with the ‘No Labels’ Party have collected enough signatures to be recognized as an official political party in the state of Nebraska, confirmed the Nebraska Secretary of State’s Office today.

This verification will not factor into Nebraska’s upcoming May 14th Primary Election, but voters can begin registering for the ‘No Labels Nebraska’ Party the next day, May 15, 2024.

The ‘No Labels Nebraska’ party is now the fifth recognized political party in Nebraska, joining the Republican Party, Democratic Party, Libertarian Party and the Legal Marijuana NOW Party. To be officially recognized in accordance with Nebraska law, organizers with No Labels Nebraska needed to collect signatures totaling 1% of the total votes cast for Governor in the most recent general election. The total number of signatures required for this petition was 6,728 — organizers collected 16,175 valid signatures from Nebraska voters.

“County election offices did an exemplary job verifying the validity of signatures in a timely manner,” Secretary of State Bob Evnen said.

Nationally, No Labels was founded in 2010 as a centrist political organization devoted to bipartisanship. Originally, the organization intended to run a presidential ticket for the 2024 general election. However, No Labels suspended this effort shortly after the death of its chairman Joe Lieberman on March 27.

“No Labels” National Director Joe Cunningham said during an interview with Neil Cavuto on Fox News, “No labels was looking for a hero. And a hero never emerged.”
