B107.3 - Lincoln's #1 At Work Station

Pull a plane, by hand, at LNK. Sounds like fun. It’s for charity.

The Lincoln Airport is hosting a contest where you literally pull a plane as fast as you can. Think of it more as a tug of war between your team and the plane. The objective is to move it 30 feet as fast as you can using a rope and your team’s inner strength. I don’t think there’s a prize, but you can claim the title of being the best plane puller. Also, you get to say you were in a contest where you pulled a plane. That’s got huge storytelling and bragging rights power.

You can sign up as a 5 person team or individually sign up and be put on a team. The divisions are Men, Women, 18 and over, and 17 and under. It comes down to $25 per person. Proceeds go to the non-profit Women In Aviation.

Oh, you’ll be pulling a CommuteAir ERJ-145 airplane. It only weighs 45,000 pounds. The trick is the initial tug. If you can jolt it right off the bat, you can get it rolling with momentum. Then you just have to worry about it running over you.

Other family activities and food will be available. It’s happening Sat, May 18, 2024 10:00 AM – 02:00 PM.
