With the 2024 Big Ten Baseball Tournament starting tomorrow in Omaha, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is offering suggested traffic routes and reminders for visiting baseball fans and local area commuters.
This year’s tournament runs from May 21 through May 26. It is expected to draw attendees from all over the country. Throughout the tournament, significant event traffic is anticipated near Charles Schwab Field Omaha in north downtown. Please be patient and cautious when heading to and from the event.
The Omaha Police Department will be present to direct motorists to take the following recommended routes to the game:
- For drivers arriving in Omaha on I-80 from the west: Travel Interstate 80 (I-80) eastbound to I-480 northbound, exiting on Leavenworth Street (Exit 1B) or Harney Street (Exit 2A), then use city streets to navigate to parking options near Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
- For drivers arriving in Omaha from the east: Travel I-80 westbound and exit on 13th Street (Exit 454), then use city streets to navigate to parking options near Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
After each game, exiting traffic will be directed to 13th Street or Cuming Street to alleviate congestion and create a smoother departure for all.
NDOT wants drivers to be aware that construction activities are occurring on common routes to and from the tournament, including lane closures on I-480 from 12th Street to the Missouri River bridge. Drivers are reminded to use extra caution in construction zones.
When possible, drivers involved in a crash during event traffic should move both vehicles to the shoulder before reporting the incident.
