Air Show Returning To Offutt Air Force Base This Weekend

By Tom Stanton Aug 23, 2024 | 11:47 AM

For the first time in six years Offutt Air Force Base will host the Defenders of Freedom Air and Space show this weekend. “We’ve got the Thunderbirds coming in, the premier demonstration team, you’ve got the Golden Knights from the US Army Parachute Team,” says event spokesman Kris Pierce.

The gates at the base will be open from 9-5 each day.  The aerial demonstrations will begin at noon. Pierce says the Thunderbirds’ performance will run about an hour and 15 minutes and include nearly 30 pilot maneuvers.

There will be nearly 30 aircraft on the ground for people to see up close.  Everyone 18 years of age and older will need to show a photo ID.  Pierce says weather will be an issue this weekend with temperatures heating up into the mid-90’s.

“Bring an empty water bottle and then we have water refill stations all throughout the air show.  Free water so just come and fill your bottles up,” Pierce says.   Attendees are also reminded to not forget the sunscreen.

No outside food or drinks are allowed but there will be food and drinks available for purchase.   Click here for more airshow details
