Rainbow lightning! Rare weather at Twins game.

By Austin Michael Aug 28, 2024 | 6:50 PM

There was rainbow lightning Monday just outside the Twins versus the Braves game in Minneapolis Monday. Rainbow lightning is a very rare instance when rainbows and lighting occur at the same time.

In mythology, the Hindu god of war, Indra, has been known to use rainbows as a bow and lightning as arrows. Scientifically, they don’t usually go together because rainbows happen after storms pass through, yet there’s still enough ionization to cause lightning.

Either way, they make super cool displays in nature and on camera. The twins have a picture where the sky is a dark to light purple and range. There’s a rainbow perfectly formed to look like it’s from one side of the stadium to another and several lightning strikes around the rainbow.

I mean, the sky is so purple that you could imagine that Prince came back to life as some kind of Greek god and decided to do a concert from the clouds.
