There’s going to be a pay version of Alexa on Amazon devices. The version we all have now is more like a talking web browser. The new version of Alexa will be AI enhanced.
Maybe I’ll can get that version to tell dirty jokes.
Probably not though, because they’ll also want around $10 a month for new Alexa. An honestly, the only things Alexa does for me now are turn on lights, play music when I ask, and bother me with notifications about stupid stuff I might like to buy from Amazon.
By the way Amazon, I’m tired of thinking I might want to buy the exact same thing I bought three weeks earlier.
Amazon says that the extras will include services like suggesting recipes based on you dietary restrictions and AI summaries of the news. I have yet to read an AI news story that didn’t have at least one thing wrong. So, no.
But if you’re interested, money grubbing Alexa will be available in October. Nothing should change about what we’re already using. Alexa, by the way, has been listening in on us for 10 years now.
