Neighbors of Goonies house being jerks to fans.

There’s drama surrounding the house where The Goonies was shot and it kind of sounds like we could use help from them kids to settle it. The house in Oregon was sold 2 years ago for over a million to a guy who’s a huge Goonies fan. His neighbors got it into their heads that once he moved in, fans would stop flocking to the place for pictures. The neighbors even put up signs that say, “Goonies Not Welcome”.

If it were me in the Goonies house and I saw those, I’d be knocking on their doors wearing my trench coat with a boxing glove on a spring in it.

Instead, this guy retaliated by putting up his own signs that say, “Hey you guys, Goonies welcome!”

And here’s my favorite part. A buddy of his bought another house next to the Goonie house and he put up a sign pointing to the grump neighbor’s house that say, “Ignore Karen.” Their way actually sounds like more fun.

Seriously though, when I was a little kid, we had an older couple as neighbors. He hated the neighborhood kids because when we played, we inadvertently would step on his lawn chasing each other around. He was very proud of the lawn and his garden. I’m still not sure what prompted me to do it, but one day I wrote a poem for him and his wife and handed it to him over his backyard fence. In return, he gave me something from his garden. He never got upset with me being on his lawn again.
