Fight climate change with diamonds. Some scientists say that spraying diamond dust into the atmosphere would reflect sun light back into space. Doing so could fight back all of the climate change from the last 50 years. It would cool the Earth by nearly 2 degrees.
All it would take is 5.5 million tons of diamond dust each time it would need to be done. And, it’d only need to be done once a year. No biggee, right? I mean, how much could 5 million tons of diamonds cost every year? Is there even that much diamond?
I wonder if we took all the diamonds from every wedding ring in the world, how much they’d weigh? It’s takes roughly 2268 diamond carats to equal one pound. I’ll leave the math to you. If they said that everyone in the world had to give up their diamonds in order to save Earth, could you do it?
Then what happens to all that diamond dust when it falls back to Earth? I can’t imagine it getting into the water, food, and everything else would be good. Or maybe we could hire a bunch of old timey prospectors with giant bowls to catch it all. They’d be staring at the sky in their grimy old coveralls and corn cob pipe saying, “We’re gonna strike it rich, Matilda, just like I said! Ya mule!”
