Three Seward County Deputies Injured Saving Victim From Fiery Crash

By Tom Stanton Mar 31, 2025 | 3:40 PM

The Seward County Sheriff’s office says three deputies were hospitalized Saturday evening after saving a driver who was involved in a fiery crash.  Investigators say around 7:15 pm deputies responded to the area of 252nd and Saltillo Road.

The preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree, which resulted in the vehicle catching fire. The driver was the only person in the car and was removed from the vehicle by the three deputies and a Nebraska State Patrol trooper.

The person was transported to Bryan LGH West by Milford Fire & Rescue with severe burns. While getting the victim out of the vehicle, the deputies were injured.  They were treated at Seward Memorial Hospital and released that evening.

The sheriff’s office says the driver is a minor.  There is no indication if the driver was injured. The accident is being investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol.
