Don’t make fun of my chicken cake. Baking experiment fails one way, but has unexpected positive outcome.

I’ve been trying to create a recipe for a chicken flavored cake. My friends on the Froggy 98 Morning Show were having a good laugh about it this morning. It’s at the 1:30:01 mark on the link. I’m sure people laughed at the Wright Brothers as well.

I came up with the idea after thinking about how tons of people love waffles and chicken. I thought, if people like the chicken flavor along with a baked style bread, why not make a chicken flavored cake and cover it in syrup or a maple flavored frosting? So, I spent part of Saturday night mixing chicken broth with cake mix. It didn’t work as planned. It didn’t taste like chicken at all. It tasted like yellow cake. However, it is the most moist cake I have ever baked. It’s amazing. For whatever reason, chicken broth makes cake super moist. In fact, it is so moist, that I waited until Sunday afternoon to add frosting. It was almost impossible because the top of the cake kept tearing as I tried to smoothly apply the frosting. I ended up just kind of globbing it on.

I’m guessing the fat in the broth added moistness to the texture. So, broth instead of water equals great cake. You’re welcome.

Also, everyone here that had a piece said the cake was delicious.

As for the chicken flavoring, I have other ideas that might make it work. I’ll keep you posted.
