Footage from inside plane that crashed. Being able to show it doesn’t mean you should.

I saw a headline on a news site today that said, “Passenger video appears to show final harrowing moments of Nepal plane crash”. I didn’t open the story to read it. That headline infers that there is video that people can watch from inside the plane as it is cashing. I want no part of that. I wouldn’t blame a news site for posting it. There are millions of people that would watch it, but not me. Knowing that the person taking the video and the dozens of other people there with them die when the camera blinks out is far too disturbing to me.

And maybe the site, it was CBS, doesn’t have the video. Maybe they’re just reporting on it. I still don’t think I care to know about it unless the video somehow helps in discovering why the plane crashed.

I worked in a TV newsroom for a couple years. I’ve seen and heard a lot of disturbing stuff. I grew a thick skin. But this……. Airplane crashes really get under that skin. So, I didn’t click. I’m not going to post it here either.

Would you watch that video?
