Disney unveiled what they are calling a “real” lightsaber. AS exciting as that sounds to me, I’m calling bull.
Up until now, they’ve been selling lightsabers that are clear tubes that light up when you press a button the handle. This new lightsaber doesn’t have a clear tube that is always out there on top of the handle. It’s a clear tube that extends from the handle and lights ups as it does. It looks cool. It makes all the right noises. I’d love to have one to add to my collection which, by the way, includes chopsticks that look like lightsabers and really light up. I bought them in Tokyo.
But it’s still just a clear tube with a light in it.
It’s an obvious marketing ploy to get you to visit the Galactic Star Cruiser Experience in Disney World. That’s the only place you’re going to be able to find one of these lightsabers. Ticket sales for the Starcruiser have been down so much that they’ve announced that they’re cutting back on available dates to visit. It looks amazing, but it costs around 3 thousand dollars a person for two nights stay. I’d rather spend that money to fly to Jamaica and use a snorkel instead of a lightsaber.
Ok, agora eu quero um lightsaber desses! 😱
