Youtube is finally going to get rid of those ridiculous overlay banner ads. Those are the rectangle ads that show up at the bottom of the screen. They have the teeny-tiny little “X” in the top right corner that is impossible to click if your screen is smaller than 88 inches. Those. I hate those. And yes, I realize they only cover a small portion of the screen, but it’s like being in a theater and a really tall person sits in front of you. You know you’re missing something.
Just the other day, I clicked the “x” of one ad and 1 second later another popped up. This happened over and over for 7 ads. That was when I gave up. I can’t see that they were ever effective. Most people only click the by accident. And they never have anything to do with what’s in the video.
Anyway, they’re scheduled to end April 6. Don’t celebrate though. I have a strong feeling that they’re going to replace them with more un-skippable ads before you can watch any videos. Like 3 to 5 instead of the annoying 2 that’s happening right now.
