Don’t worry, be happy. Do that and you’re likely to have a good memory as you get older.

By the way, if you remember that song, then you’re already old and have a good memory.

Anyway, a new study out of the Yale School of Public Health found that older people that have positive attitudes tend to hold off mild cognitive impairment and were even able to regain normal cognition. Mild cognitive impairment is something that almost every thinks that just happens as you get older. The fact is that 50% of people recover from it and no one knows why for sure yet. But, this latest study shows that a positive mental attitude certainly helps.

Here’s a few tips for boosting your happiness. Spend a few minutes every day writing down some things that you’re grateful for. After a few, you’ll notice a difference in your attitude. Try building your positive self-talk. That means to criticize yourself less, while using your inner voice to point out things that are good about you. And the one that I’ve seen to be highly effective is to spend time with positive people.
