Mary Strand of Rogers, Minnesota lost her wedding ring in 2010, but finally has it back. What makes it more impressive is that she lost it down a toilet 13 years ago.
Back in 2010, as Mary flushed that toilet, her ring leaped off her finger and into the swirling waters. She desperately plunger her hands in to save it, but it slipped away and shot down the plumbing and away forever.
Here comes the irony. Her husband runs a sewer and drain cleaning business. Mary rang him immediately. He disconnected the toilet, took it outside, and gave it a shake. Then he snaked the plumbing for hundreds of feet. After that, he had workers check the city’s sewer pipes. Nothing.
Then last March, city workers, just a quarter mile away, were cleaning equipment at the sewage plant, when it reappeared, stuck in a piece of equipment. Because they didn’t know who it belonged to, they got the word out on social media. Finally, it was back with Mary just last week.
What’s kind of funny is that hundreds of people called in to see it it was their lost jewelry. Hundreds of other people who apparently also lost their stuff in toilets and sinks.
