Scientists regrow teeth in Mice. Humans might be down the road.

Humans may be able to regrow teeth soon………… which is good for people like Chris Loughgrin who covers traffic for us here. He’s missing about three teeth in a row on one side of his mouth. He normally has fake ones in, but something happened and he had to get new ones, but it took weeks. I can only imagine what a pain it was eating things with that big of a gap. I bet he’d start chewing on something and it would squish out through like tooth paste from a tube.

Anyway, Japanese scientists singled out a gene protein that helped mice grow new teeth. It also worked on ferrets. Why ferrets? Interestingly, ferrets diphyodont animals which means they have similar dental patterns to humans. Scientists are working on medicine that they can take to trial sometime in the near future.
