A company called You, Only Virtual, is creating Artificial Intelligence chatbots that are modeled on people that have died. This way, you can still talk to that dead person, sort of. The company scans all the info they can get between you and your deceased loved one. They go through all the e-mail, texts, and phone calls. They feed it to the AI, who can supposedly reply to you with text and audio the same way as the person who has passed.
I went to their website and watch a promo video. They’re also working on using augmented reality glasses so that can see people responding to you. Remember the Pokemon craze a few years back where your phone would show things that weren’t actually there. It’d be like that, only with dead people from your life…. Standing or sitting in front of you, talking to you.
As much as I miss some people, I’m leery about it not letting people get closure, not being able to move on. Also, how weird would it be if the loved one was younger. For example, my sister died in a car crash when she was 14, 35 years ago. It would be unnerving after this long to see her still as a child.
