One of the most earth and human health friendly fast food stops is probably going to be the one using the most robots soon. Chipotle testing an automated system called Hyphen on digital orders. Hyphen will use robot arms and maybe some AI to put orders together. And, it can make around 200 burrito bowls an hour. Humans are much slower. They say Hyphen will also be much more accurate with ingredients and, of course, amounts of ingredients which can be a big money saver.
Just don’t complain if you don’t get the guac you ordered. The robots are programmed to go back in time and terminate you. That way, it never happened.
Instead of someone calling out your number when it’s done, there’s a tablet that shows progress of the robots slapping it together. On top of this, Chipotle has also developed a robot with AI that can make tortilla chips and they’re also going to build stores that only take digital orders.
I couldn’t track down any video of the Hyphen thing in action, but I found this clip of the tortilla chip making robot.
