This has never happened in a food situation before. A small taco stand has received a Michelin Star. In case you’re unfamiliar, a Michelin Star is like getting a gold medal when it comes to restaurants. Only the very best in a city get one. It’s usually a foo-foo fancy place with a giant dining room. They make food look pretty on your plate, have well trained chefs, and fancy wines.
But this taco stand is just 10 feet by 10 feet and only serves 4 items, all of them tacos. You can order water or a soda.
How did this lowly, little stand earn a Michelin Star. The owner said, “The secret is the simplicity of our taco. It has only a tortilla, red or green sauce, and that’s it. That, and the quality of the meat.”
I would love to try one, but it’s located in Mexico City. I did watch a video of the place. It literally looks like a hole in the wall, but the food looks delicious. Some of the best places I’ve eaten at are dives.
