The future of Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium will look different than what was believed just a couple months ago.
The expedited plan that former athletic director Trev Alberts pitched is out. A more drawn out vision from new AD Troy Dannen, without the immediate tearing down of South Stadium following the 2024 season, is in.
“During meetings on Thursday with committees of the Board of Regents, we discussed Memorial Stadium improvements and our intent to modify the original timeline and project plans,” Dannen said in a statement.
Nebraska will now focus on improvements for the East and West Stadiums. Dannen said there is no timeline for when work on South Stadium would begin, but said those renovations “will remain within the scope of the overall project”.
